Dehydrated Apples
Recipes — By admin on August 21, 2009 at 10:11 pmThis is a favorite snack at our house. I keep us in constant supply. They are great for taking on homeschool field trips.
Wash 1 5lb bag of organic fuji apples.
Juice about 5 organic limes.

Slice the apples 1/4 inch thick and throw in a large bowl. Toss with the lime juice. Keep adding the apples as you slice, and keep turning them over in the lime juice to keep them from browning as you work. The lime juice also gives the finished apples a fantastic taste.

I sometimes use a mandolin slicer to work quickly. I also love this kitchen gadget.

But its not necessary. You can also core them before slicing. or not. We prefer them cored but have left them in on days I was in a hurry. or just plain lazy.
I also make chunks to put into my granola and oatmeal. I find different recipes to toss them into all the time.

I just lay them out on the dehydrator trays and set them for about 6 hours.

( I tossed a few banana slices in there too. I didn’t have a full dehydrator and didn’t want to waste electricity. They make wonderful snacks too!)
And viola! This is what we end up with. Yum!
