Fast Forward

Surely I am not the only one who feels as if she is living in fast forward? The feeling that there is not enough time in the day. That the work is never done. That endless cycle of work and no play. Our children are as over scheduled and sleep deprived as we are. We are starving to death but still overweight due to bad nutrition from eating on the run. Our children behave as wild animals because of being sleep deprived and starved, and not to mention not spending enough time with us. After all they are at work (school) for 6-8 hours per day themselves.
This society has gone insane. No wonder our nation is in the state that it in. * 50% of marriages ending in divorce, 13.6 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 21.2 million children (approximately 26% of children under 21 in the U.S. today). There is no time to carry on a relationship that is going to work in the fast paced times that we live in.
What was I thinking joining in the ranks of this insanity? I am not saying that you can’t “have it all”, but I sure can’t. It just doesn’t work for us. I can’t do it. We are going to have to make sure to make changes for ourselves to make sure that we do not become a statistic.
I like being different. Marching to our own beat. We are going to hit rewind and play this show in slow motion. I don’ t want to miss a second of this life that I have been blessed with.

I loved this post! And I can SO relate — I have 5 kids; we homeschool; we juggle, juggle, juggle kids’ activities; and the family calendar is CRAMMED. I had an ‘epiphany’ recently and decided that I was done with all the endless running around, decided to simplify our days and our activities to make room for the more important stuff. And it is SO much better! It’s like you said, we are slowing down this ‘show’ so that we don’t miss a thing.
Good post, thought-provoking :) Just found your blog and I like!
