30th Birthday Suprise

I have never that I can remember had a “real” birthday party. We moved a lot when I was a kid so I never had very many friends to invite. My cousin, who was like a brother to me passed away when I was 15 the day before my birthday. I was always angry that he had left me. And it was always hard around my birthday after that.
This year my Dad came down, some very good friends drove down from Chicago and it started out much better. I knew Brian had something up his sleeve but I never suspected what it would end up to be.
Friday started out very busy. We got up at the crack of dawn as usual, got the kids ready for school. I had to bake some muffins and a casserole and a ham. It was Grandparents Day at Briana’s school so we were there all morning. I keep checking my e-mail thinking I would get a rush of birthday wishes- but no. I am already mad at my Mom, I can’t believe she can’t call me on my birthday. My best friend was going out of town for a wedding. I was trying not to be hurt, after all its kind of asking a lot for someone to reschedule a wedding.. I can’t believe Courtney forgot too, such a loser friend….Another was working…Anyway, I rushed home so I could drop some stuff off at the church. I came home and cleaned up a little. You know usual stuff. But I knew Brian had planned on taking me out to dinner. I got ready, not knowing where we were going or how to dress. Knowing Brian, it was going to be somewhere fancy. I decided on a jeans and a sweater, figuring I would be under dressed.
As we are leaving the house, Joe says “where is your church at?”. Brian is like oh well we have to pass by there and we have time, do you want to see it? And Brian goes on talking about all this stuff that goes on there. So we stop in. I figured the door would be locked but Brian said he wanted to see if the chairs were in need of moving. (you see he is supposed to help with that but sometimes isn’t able) Anyhow, we walk in and its semi- dark and I hear someone walk in. I look and its my friend Jamie. OK- She doesn’t even go to church here and I can’t figure out why she is there. Brian says, surprise! she is going to dinner with us! (I haven’t seen her in a while and I am thrilled) I still have no clue what is about to take place. We make out way to the library and the “teen cafe”. Brian tries to turn on the light but it doesn’t go on. So he opens the door and I walk in thinking, “I don’t know where the light switch in here is…”
SURPRISE!!
There stand my closest friends in the world, with these huge grins on their face! I took me a while to take it all in. I was so surprised to so many of them because they were supposed to be in other places! My life group girls were there,my “church Mom”, even a couple of ladies from church that I barely know! They had taken time to come spend with me. I really felt to overwhelmed with love. They had spent hours decorating, there are balloons everywhere pictures of my childhood… lots of great food.
I had the best time I have ever had at any party!
I am so blessed to have so many wonderful women in my life! I admire so many of these ladies. They are all women you can look up to and take example from. There is nothing I can think of to describe how special they made me feel. I just want thank you so much girls, I love you!
And I think 30 is going to be awesome!!
